Did you know that 80 percent of Instagram users watches stories daily? Ever since Instagram introduced stories, this has become more and more important. Especially when you have a business account, using Instagram stories is an absolute must; the Instagram algorithm is no longer just linked on your post activity, but your story activity too! Using stories is a great and easy way to engage more with your followers, to show more of your daily life, behind the scenes or anything you would want to share. In this blog post I will not go into how to use the stories tool most effective, but on how to make the most aesthetic, beautiful stories that will bring your Instagram to the next level!
Especially because the tool has become vital to 'Instagrammers', it is important to showcase your brand or personal style in stories as well, not just in your Instagram posts. Many apps with many different styles have been created lately with beautiful story templates so that we can easily create personalized, aesthetic stories – but there are so many now, it is easy to get lost in which apps to use and not to use. To make it easier for you, I have selected the top apps on how to make the best stories!
This app has quickly become one of the most loved apps by content creators and it is easy to see why. Story templates are aesthetic and simplistic, with enough different styles to vary – but without getting lost with too many options. The simplicity of this app is its strength, and that is why it is my absolute favorite. There are several templates and fonts that you can choose from, some of which are free, and some for sale $ 1-2 – which makes this app very affordable too. Also, you can both share photos and videos with this app, which most story apps do not offer.
Unfold is available for both Android and iOS.
2. Hype Type
This app is sort of a classic, a much-loved app for iOS users that allows you to make beautiful stories from both photos and videos with music, animated text and much more in just a few steps. The biggest advantage of this app is that it makes videos super easy to edit – there are few apps where you can add texts and music to a video and maintain good video quality. Only downside is that this app is not available for Android, only a different version called Hype Text, which is not worth downloading in my opinion.
3. Spark Post
One of my favorites, because of the beautiful fonts and icons you can add to stories. This is the only app with such high-quality icons, and you can even add your own fonts to your stories – allowing you to create beautifully personalized stories! The ready-to-use designs, however, are scarce. This app is great for the creatives amongst us, but less suited for those who prefer easy, ready-to-use templates.
Spark Post is free and available for both Android and iOS.
Canva is without a doubt one of the best players in the field when it comes to graphic design for non-graphic designers. With Canva, you have by far the most options out of this list. Whether that is a good or not so good thing, is up to you to decide! Canva has many, many ready to use templates – but you can also build your own stories from scratch. Canva has countless options in terms of color, fonts, design, images and shapes. The only downside for me is that it does not support the use of video. Also, beware – the app will take up quite a lot of space on your phone.
Canva is free and available for both Android and iOS.
VSCO is an advanced photography app, with some of the best filters available for mobile phones. When you subscribe to VSCO (19.99 per year), you will have over 130 presets for your images, and very interestingly, to apply advanced filters to videos. This is the only available app that I know off (correct me if I’m wrong!) with such options for videos. Since videos have become such an important part of Instagram stories, this is a great option to take your stories to the next level.
VSCO is available for both Android and iOS.
